MAN IS NOT A BIRD make their first international release with the 4-track ‘Life & Levity’ EP, released today (June 3) via Splendid (Dream Koala/ Telepopmusik)/ Believe Digital.
By last year the group were making a big enough noise in France to be asked by Mark Gardner to open for Ride on the European leg of their world tour which culminated with Man Is Not A Bird’s first visit to the mythical Paris Olympia Music hall, playing in front of a capacity audience.
In late summer 2015 the Paris-based quartet undertook their first tour of the UK, playing 10 shows from Plymouth to Dundee, ending with a triumphant London show in front of UK industry insiders drawn to the band’s increasingly obvious international potential.
From there, a thoroughly tour drilled band went straight back into the studio to write and record the tracks that would become ‘Life & Levity’. Previously instrumental, these new songs see the band confront complex vocal arrangements head-on for the first time, whilst retaining their distinctive sound, an amalgam of post-rock and shoe-gaze elements.
MINAB’s debut album, ‘Survived The Great Flood’ was released last year to great acclaim at home from Les Inrockuptibles, MTV Pulse Europe and French channel D17, and by beginning of June, Spotify France showed love for the LP resulting in over 500K+ streams to date.
