Stream Cuban Techno/House producer Alex AQ’s new EP on LPZ Records

For the 4th release on their label, LPZ have looked beyond the borders of Paraguay and north to Cuba tapping up acclaimed House and Techno producer Alex AQ. Following on from releases on labels such as Basswalk Records, Evasive Records and Silence In Metropolis ‘Don’t Break It / Shake It’ offers up 2 uncompromising underground House tracks plus remixes from Myles Sergé and LPZ’s own P Lopez & Octavio.

Leading with ‘Don’t Shake It’, the EP wastes no time in getting down to business with a track that’s not so much stripped back as picked clean to the bones as jackhammer kicks, skittering percussion and intermittent vocal stabs translate into a track that’s already been doing serious damage in clubs from Asuncion to New York. Not fixing what ain’t broke ‘Break It’ sees AQ take ‘Don’t Shake It’s basic blueprint and add just a little hot sauce to the proceedings, building up the percussion, adding some eerie synths and a little electro rhythm into the track.

First up on remix duty is the veteran Techno producer Myles Sergé, whose back catalogue includes excursions on labels such as FEROX. Inspired by the early sounds of Detroit and Chicago Sergé turns in a mix of ‘Don’t Shake It’ that caters for the mind as much as the body as sci-fi pads and eerie strings ride over a bumping House beat. Finally P Lopez & Octavio go deep with a rework that matches propulsive metallic percussion, dub effects and a relentless beat to devastating and hypnotic effect.
